Charlotte Gainsbourg’s open naturalness, unconventional looks and coveted style has kept us captivated for a while now. She is a modern day fashion muse to many as well as a talented French actress, musician, mother, and now of course, our babe of the week.
Charlotte was born in the spotlight being the love child of the two famous icons English model-turned-actress Jane Birkin and France’s most adored musician-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. Charlotte followed her mother’s footsteps and recorded a duet in 1984 with Serge. A similar controversial song was released seventeen years prior by Jane and Serge called “Je t’aime”. Both songs were banned in several countries due to its sexual connotation.
Charlotte gained recognition in the entertainment business with the release of her first album Charlotte Forever along with her first success in the film industry, earning the César Award of “Most Promising Actress” for her performance in L’effrontée.
While Charlotte’s mother Jane Birkin is the namesake of the famous Hermes Birkin bag, Charlotte has been a muse to Balenciaga’s Nicholas Ghesquiere and many more designers. Charlotte’s ‘je ne sais quoi’ French charm and her simple yet daring Parisian aesthetic continues to inspire us.
