If we had to sum up Fendi’s Spring 2013 RTW collection in one word, it would be “perfection”. Presented at Milan Fashion Week, the seamless silhouettes, diverse textured fabrics, explosive prints, mass variety of now highly-coveted bags, Lego-esque shoes, jewellery, and frames, came together to verify the fine craftsmanship of the collection.
The outfits themselves were not OTT, but styled in a manner that exuded confidence and fun. Designer duo Uncle Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi certainly expressed the fashion of the future in an innovative style. As Fendi maintains, “doing modern our way, with our techniques.” The architectural structure and geometric prints of the pieces also created a 3-dimensional illusion, especially in the skirts. “Duality,” Fendi states, “That’s why the skirts are two different lengths. It’s about bringing two different elements together.”
The range was entirely pristine; we can’t get over the accessories! Stripped of the 87-year old fashion house’s logo on the buckle, iconic bags such as the Baguette, the Peekaboo, and the 2Jours were given a modern makeover. It was also great to see friendly face, New Zealand model Anmari Botha (Red Eleven), in the show too.
Not a hair out of place, and not a toe out of line, Spring 2013 RTW Fendi is definitely a dreamer’s fantasy.
