It’s funny how life can take you full circle. The change of location for NZ Fashion Week from the Viaduct back to the Auckland Town Hall had me unexpectedly reflecting on the last 19 years.
New Zealand Fashion Week started in 2001, just when 18yr old me was studying makeup artistry. My then teacher was employed to gather a group of eager makeup artists to work for the week, in what was called ‘The Loreal Powder Room’. If my memory serves me correctly, I worked in that Powder Room for three NZFW’s straight. Often gazing down at the likes of Lucy Lawless in the front row, wishfully wondering if one day, that might be me.

It is an absolute privilege to attend Fashion Week, I believe I’ve only ever missed one. I’m always so very grateful to be invited along to witness the creative genius of our New Zealand designers. The week is packed with runways, showcases, photoshoots, street style, corporate hosting, buying and selling along with the occasional bubbles. There is ALOT of coming and going inbetween shows both on site and off, and having Lexus as a partner made it the most effortless Fashion Week to date.

My fabulous Lexus driver, Kevin kept me on time to all the shows I attended. I don’t think I’ve ever been quite so organised for what is generally a pretty crazy week. Always close by,  the luxurious Lexus UX became my second home, quiet and smooth it was the perfect space to collect my thoughts and re-energise for the next leg.

Bold, fresh, dynamic and thoughtfully designed. After three days of this beautiful tan interior, I think I can safely admit I was inspired. The only question, who wore it better??
A slight switch from usual programming on the third morning as I hosted a panel discussion at NZFW on diversity in the fashion industry. The panellists were top shelf brilliant with unique and well-articulated points of view on what needs to change in the fashion industry, why and how. These are important conversations to be having and it was an honour to be involved. A big thank you to FashioNZ for pulling it all together.
&    ZAMBESI
Zambesi has spent 40yrs in the fashion industry, an incredible achievement and the perfect way to wrap up my week. I’m hoping, if you are reading this you were keeping up with all my IG stories over on @amber_peebles ,  I had the best time documenting this truly amazing experience.
Thank you again to my NZFW partner Lexus, my punctual driver Kevin and Luke Foley-Martin for shooting my street style.
And I hope you all enjoyed coming along for the ride 😉
