Summer = Christmas = Blockbusters = Oscar Bait
Gone Girl:
Stars: Ben Affleck, Rosemond Pike with a little bit of Neil Patrick Harris thrown in for good measure.

Thoughts: There is a whole lot of WTF is going on in this film, in a good way.

Thoughts: Question is, can we take Mr LaBeouf seriously anymore? Also it has gotten some pretty bad reviews.
Release Date: 17/10
Birdman:
Stars: Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Zach Galifianakis
About: An unauthorized biopic of Michael Keaton, about an actor famous for playing a superhero who tries to mount a Broadway play.
Thoughts: SO Meta you guys. Also sounds rather melancholic (such a great word).

Thoughts: Channing Tatum in a wrestling suit! But on a less shallow level, Steve Carell makes for a very intriguing bad guy.
The Imitation Game:
Stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Kiera Knightly

Release Date: 21/11
Thoughts: Cumberbatch is at his best when he’s at his smartest. See, Sherlock.

Release Date: 5/12
Thoughts: It’s been a while since weve seen Reese do anything this gritty (have we ever?) I think her performance in Wild will get her an Oscar nod fo sho. Also I think she is a drug addict for a we bit there which is always interesting.
Big Eyes:
Stars: Amy Adams, Christopher Waltz, Krysten Ritter
About: A drama centered on the awakening of the painter Margaret Keane, her phenomenal success in the 1950s, and the subsequent legal difficulties she had with her husband, who claimed credit for her works in the 1960s.

Unbroken:
Stars: Jack O’Connell (Directed by Angelina Jolie written by the Coen brothers)
About: A chronicle of the life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during World War II.
Release Date: 25/12
Thoughts: If you have read the book you will know how epic this tale is. If you haven’t you are likely going to think that the story is far to overly dramatic to be real. I’m thinking an Oscar nod to both the Director and the Star.
Inherent Vice:
Stars: Reese Witherspoon, Joaquin Phoenix, Owen Wilson, Benicio Del Toro, Maya Rudolph
About: In 1970, drug-fueled Los Angeles detective Larry “Doc” Sportello investigates the disappearance of a former girlfriend.
