Welcome to our list of the 10 fictional guys who set the real-life standard for romance. Or in other words, the guys who ruined it for everyone else.
.
Aidan Shaw – Sex & The City
Aidan Shaw is arguably pop cultures perfect man, so perfect in fact that it gives Carrie anxiety. The man is sweet, thoughtful, caring and good-natured, he loves dogs, can cook and is great with his hands/has the ability to completely renovate your house. He is just one of those really nice guys so naturally, he gets fucked over when Carrie leaves him for an emotionally unavailable rich guy.
.
Seth Cohen – The OC
Seth needs no explanation as to why he is on this list. He is just great. If you watched The O.C, you will know what we mean.
.
Mike Ross – Suits
Ok so technically he is not (yet) Rachel’s boyfriend but judging by the season finale episode it is only a matter of time. Mike is the best of both worlds, he is sweet and caring (loves his grandmother) but he also has balls. This guy would fight for you and god knows we need more of those kinds of guys in our lives.
Also he has a really, really great memory.
.
Ross Gellar – Friends
“It has always been you”
Done.
.
Patrick Verona – 10 Things I Hate About You
The ultimate bad boy turned good, Patrick Verona is every girls dream and every parent’s nightmare. Who wouldn’t want a guy who would break out of detention and serenade you in front of the whole school singing, “I love you baby, and if it’s quite alright, I need you baby to fill my lonely nights” whilst out running two fat security guards.
Plus that smile… Jesus.
.
Marshel Erikson – How I Met Your Mother
This guy is the quintessential best friend boyfriend. He knows you inside out and loves everything about you. He is supportive of every random venture you make, will always take your side, and totally gets your slightly cray sense of humour.
Also he is really great at making up songs on the spot and will never forget your birthday.
.
Dr McDreamy – Greys Anatomy (the early years)
While he may be a bit F’d up because he caught his wife cheating on him with his best friend, Derek Sheppard is still a guy we would love to date. Obviously he is incredibly smart and wealthy, but the thing that makes Derek so great is that he is a real life hero. He saves peoples lives on a daily basis and will not hesitate to save you form both yourself, and every freak accident you find yourself in.
That and and the fact that he lives in an awesome caravan in the woods.
.
Woodchuck Todd – Easy A
A genuinely great guy who uses phrases like “stay excellent” when signing off from a conversation, appears at your side whenever you are in need and will look past the fact that you might have possibly slept with your entire high school.
Also he will make your wish – that your life was a 80s movie – come true.
.
Nick Miller – New Girl
What is it about Nick Miller? He is perpetually broke, has no career ambitions and until last episode, never did laundry.
Yet we still somehow find him endearingly sweet and actually pretty hot, especially when this happened.
Nick is one of those guys that has so many underlying issues that there is a very real possibility that he is beyond saving. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to try.
.
Hank Moody – Californication
This guy is not your obvious choice as one of pop cultures best boyfriends. He is emotionally unavailable, drinks too much, parties too hard, and because of those aforementioned things, will sleep with any random pretty thing that shows interest regardless of the fact that he is meant to be in a committed relationship.
But what makes Hank Moody so irresistible is that despite his recklessness, he is totally, completely in love with Karen and always will be. Sigh.
.
Too bad none of these guys actually exist.
